Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Training
Want to learn Jiu-Jitsu? Start with the MMA Starter Pass. At Cosens Fenton, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is taught as part of our complete MMA curriculum, not as a separate gi program.
- 2 beginner MMA lessons
- See how no-gi Jiu-Jitsu & grappling fit into MMA
- No gi required and no experience needed
- Tour the academy & meet the coaches
Important: Cosens Fenton does not sell a separate BJJ-only membership or gi Jiu-Jitsu program. Your Starter Pass introduces you to the complete MMA Beginner Program, where Jiu-Jitsu and no-gi grappling are an important part of the curriculum.
“The teen and adult classes are a perfect blend of challenge and respect, fostering an environment that is both safe and incredibly rewarding.”
See The Jiu-Jitsu Side Of Cosens
Positions, escapes, control, submissions, leverage, and problem-solving on the ground. This is the grappling side of the MMA curriculum.
This video highlights the Jiu-Jitsu portion of what we teach. At Fenton, you do not enroll in a separate BJJ-only program. You learn grappling alongside striking, takedowns, defense, and the other skills that make up the complete MMA curriculum.
Why People Get Hooked On Jiu-Jitsu
Jiu-Jitsu gives you a physical challenge and a technical problem at the same time. You are not just trying to work harder. You are learning how to make better decisions with another person actively resisting you.
Technique Over Raw Strength
Learn how leverage, positioning, timing, and control can solve problems that brute force cannot.
Constant Problem Solving
Every position gives you a new question: escape, control, advance, defend, or create an opening.
Progress You Can Feel
A movement that felt impossible starts making sense. An escape gets cleaner. Your reactions become calmer and more deliberate.
A Full-Body Challenge
Build conditioning, coordination, grip, balance, and body awareness while learning a skill instead of repeating a machine circuit.
Jiu-Jitsu Is One Piece Of A Complete MMA Skill Set
We feature Jiu-Jitsu heavily because it matters. We just do not pretend it exists in isolation. At Cosens Fenton, grappling is taught in the context of a broader MMA curriculum.
No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu
Learn positions, escapes, control, submissions, transitions, and how to stay composed on the ground without relying on a gi.
Wrestling & Takedowns
Learn how standing exchanges become grappling exchanges, including takedowns, clinch control, balance, and getting back to your feet.
Striking & MMA Context
Understand how grappling connects to striking, distance, defense, and the decisions you make before and after the fight reaches the ground.
Starting Is Simple
You do not need a gi, previous grappling experience, or any idea what an armbar is. Start with two beginner MMA lessons and see how the grappling side feels.

Meet the coach, learn the basics, and see how Jiu-Jitsu fits into the complete MMA program.
See The Full Training Environment
Jiu-Jitsu is part of the experience, but not the whole experience. See the coaching, movement, striking, grappling, teamwork, and beginner-friendly environment that make up Adult MMA at Cosens.
Technical, Controlled, And Beginner Friendly
You do not need to walk into your first lesson ready to wrestle at full speed. Beginners learn progressively, with direct coaching and controlled partners.
No Hard Rolling Required
You are not expected to jump straight into hard live grappling or prove how tough you are.
Tap Early. Learn Safely.
Submission training is built around control, communication, and stopping before a position becomes an injury contest.
Padded Training Floors
The academy uses professional padded flooring designed for martial arts movement, takedown practice, and grappling.
Trained, Background-Checked Coaches
Every coach completes Cosens Martial Arts Instructor Training and is background checked before working with students.
You Do Not Need To Be Strong, Flexible, Or Experienced
Jiu-Jitsu is technical. That is the appeal. You can start without knowing the positions, terminology, or what you are supposed to do with your hands.
Your beginner lessons give you time to learn the basic ideas at a manageable pace. Expect to feel awkward at first. Everyone does when they learn a new physical skill. You are here to learn, not to impress the room.

This is included to show the Jiu-Jitsu influence inside the Cosens curriculum. It does not mean Fenton operates as a Brazilian Top Team academy or offers a separate BJJ-only membership.

Quick Questions
Do you have a standalone Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu membership?
No. At Cosens Martial Arts Fenton, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and no-gi grappling are taught as part of the complete MMA curriculum for ages 13+. We are featuring Jiu-Jitsu on this page because it is an important part of what we teach, but we do not want to imply that there is a separate BJJ-only membership.
Do you train in a gi?
No. The Jiu-Jitsu and grappling taught in our MMA curriculum is no-gi. You do not need to purchase or wear a traditional Jiu-Jitsu gi to get started.
What if Jiu-Jitsu is the part I am most interested in?
That is completely fine. The Starter Pass lets you experience the overall MMA Beginner Program and learn how grappling fits into it. If Jiu-Jitsu is what caught your attention, tell your coach when you come in and we can explain how the grappling curriculum develops inside the program.
What is the MMA Starter Pass?
The regular price of the MMA Starter Pass is $39.95. During our Monthly Special, new students ages 13+ can claim it for $19.95 through month end.
It includes two beginner MMA lessons, a tour of the academy, time to meet the coaches, and an introduction to the MMA curriculum for ages 13+. There are no recurring charges or obligation to enroll.
Will I have to roll or spar hard on my first day?
No. Beginners are introduced progressively. You are not required to compete, fight, or jump directly into hard live grappling.
Am I too old, out of shape, or inflexible to try Jiu-Jitsu?
No. You start at your current fitness and experience level. The first lessons are designed to let you learn without trying to keep up with someone who has trained for years.
What should I wear?
Comfortable workout clothes are perfect. A T-shirt or athletic top and shorts or athletic pants work well. No gi is required.

Technical Challenge Without The Ego
Grappling is difficult enough without a room full of people trying to prove something. A respectful training environment matters.
“The teen and adult classes are a perfect blend of challenge and respect, fostering an environment that is both safe and incredibly rewarding. The supportive community makes everyone, regardless of skill level, feel valued and empowered.”
“The instructors are vigilant and attentive, ensuring that every sparring session and drill is conducted in a controlled, safe manner.”
